Ms. Rokia Afzal Rahman

 

Ms. Rokia Afzal Rahman is the former Adviser (Minister) to the Government of Bangladesh in charge of the Ministry of Women and Children, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Ministry of Social Welfare and Ministry of Culture. She is also one of the most respected women entrepreneur who has devoted her whole life towards women empowerment and social development. Ms. Rahman is the Chairperson of Presidency University foundation and Chair of the Bangladesh Board of Advisers of Asian University for Women. She is also the Chairperson of Mediaworld Limited, owning company of the most popular Bangladeshi English daily, The Daily Star

Dr. Md. Siraju Islam

Dr. Islam is presently serving as the Professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, North South University. He is a veteran academics, who completed bachelors from BUET, Dhaka; masters from NUS, Singapore and PhD from The University of Tokyo, Japan.  He also served for a number of organizations and UN bodies: UNFCCC, IPCC, UNCRD, DFID, UNDP, ADB, GIZ and World Bank for consultancy, research or short term assignment related to environment and natural resources management. In 2010, he served as Research Fellow at the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) headquarters in Bonn, Germany. Dr. Islam is associated with Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as an Expert Reviewer for a number of reports. He was also involved with the Alliance for Global Sustainability (AGS), an youth initiative on environment and development among the four leading universities of the world: Massachusetts Institute is Technology (MIT), USA; The University of Tokyo, Japan; Chalmers University, Sweden and the ETH, Zurich, Switzerland

Dr. Shaikh Tanveer Hossain

 

Dr. Shaikh Tanveer Hossain is Vice-President of IFOAM Organics Asia and presently working in the Agriculture Department of Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Secretariat at Tokyo, Japan. Formerly, he was a Sustainable Agriculture Advisor of Friends In Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB) and scientist at the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute. He pioneered integrated rice-duck farming and organic vegetable sack production in Bangladesh. Dr. Tanveer was awarded the grand prize of the Organic Farming Innovation Award (OFIA) by IFOAM in the 17th Organic World Congress at South Korea in 2011. Dr. Tanveer holds a PhD in Agriculture from Ehime University, Japan. Dr. Tanveer is designated as “IFOAM Global Organic Ambassador “ in 2017
